Day 3 ; NO COFFEE!!!! AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Ha,HA!!!!!! It hasn't been that bad! I expected maybe a headache the first couple of days. I've had them before when I've done this. But no, not a single one so far. I did prick my finger and my blood was still sort of brown looking , so maybe there is enough residue in there, that my body doesn't realize I've stopped drinking coffee yet.
I have to admit the first day I was in the local grocery store and drooled a little bit when I walked by "Starbucks". I didn't miss it at all yesterday. My coffee maker has an automatic brewer on it that you can set, so coffee is ready when you wake up. This morning I missed waking up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee wafting through my little cabin. I also missed that morning cup of rich flavor. Other then that it's not so bad! Of course this is the perfect time to do this. I really don't have anywhere to be or any demands on me right now.

COFFEE

               I LOVE COFFEE!!!!
I love its deep, dark, sensual aroma. When it is really good, like that of the Blue Mountain coffee of Jamaica, some of the coffee I had in Venezuela or from  Costa Rica, you can almost taste the earth it was grown in. I love that dark earthy taste of a good, rich, strong cup of coffee. In the past year or so, I've become really fond of the organic free trade growers supported by the Rain Forest Alliance. You can definitely taste the difference and is well worth the extra price. I'm not the best morning person and love the caffeine in an early morning cup of coffee! I'm totally addicted!
This is going to shock, amaze and maybe even terrify those that really know me, but as of today, 12/12/11, I have quit drinking coffee! Its going to be mostly tea and mostly Puer tea from Yunnan Province China when I can get down to Boulder to get it. Now don't get me wrong! I'm not going to be religious about it. If I go out to breakfast, I'm still going to drink coffee and when I'm in New York City for New Years, you gotta "have  a coffee". Its just the everyday 4 to 8 cups a day, everyday, that's going to stop.
The past few times I've had my blood pressure checked its been a little high, not bad, just a little. Plus I'm afraid all that caffeine is hard on my adrenals and actually robbing me of energy. So..... for a few months anyway, I'm going to cut back on coffee and when the health fair comes around in late April or early May we will see the results.

How Young Living Essential Oils Can Bring you Health, Happiness and extra Money- if you need it

These days it's hard to get through the day without hearing some seriously scary news on the economy. I recently had a conversation with a friend who's a stay-at-home-mom, in which she shared her fear that she might need to enter the workforce again with outdated skills and gaps in her resume. I shared with her the fact that simply by helping others ease their symptoms with the highest quality aromatherapy products available, I've been able to bring in extra money to help my family, without ever having to work outside the home.
Interestingly enough, I got started with Young Living essential oils nearly ten years ago not to make extra money, but because the products were helping my depression, naturally and effectively. However, I soon found out that while simply telling others how good I felt and showing them how to order the products, I was not only helping them, but I started to generate an income for myself. I was helping people create better health and creating financial stability at the same time. At the time I didn't realize it, but the income I made from Young Living ended up helping my family through some tough financial times last year when my husband closed his business. And while we are still recovering from that crisis, Young Living is helping us build a future that is more secure, has more freedom, and is more aligned with our beliefs and values.
You see, I'm the type of person that never wanted to get involved with network marketing because I didn't want my friends to run in the other direction when they saw me. Somehow, referring Young Living to others happened naturally, and I never felt like I was selling anything, because I was simply sharing the truth with others. Also, there's no monthly requirement with Young Living so there's no pressure put on anyone to buy products, or to promote them if you don't wish. Many, many people simply become members to purchase whenever they choose.
Whether you are like my husband and me -- looking to create more freedom, time, and less stress in your life, -- or whether you are completely happy with your life, who couldn't use a little more financial security these days? It's relatively easy to make an additional $300 a month referring Young Living to others, and $300 a month can act as an addition to savings, or can help out with the bills without having to work outside the home. For me, Young Living is a way to help others achieve the best in themselves. The products work on the body, mind, and soul.
For the physical side, Young Living has blends and supplements that help with liver cleansing, colon cleansing, and improve digestion; blends that support the thyroid and endocrine systems, hormonal balancing, and more. For the emotional side of us they have products that help with depression and anxiety and moving past stuck emotions. There are essential oils that help with meditation, spirituality, or essential oils that will simply help relax and fall asleep. They have drinks designed for weight loss and personal care products. Everything is of the utmost purity and has been created with the intent of bringing your health to the highest level possible.
So, today as I try to put the financial news in perspective, I take no small comfort in the fact that my Young Living business is helping to create long-term financial security for our family. Instead of striving for "get rich quick" ideas, we are looking to create more time, freedom, and a life aligned with our values . Young Living essential oils are helping us do this, and I'm helping others achieve this, as well.

A little love goes a long way

I just finished reading Thoreau's "Life with out principles".  He addresses many subjects some good ones on government and other social issues. The subject I would like to focus on is the one to do with life's labors. In "Life with out Principles" Thoreau states "Do not hire a man who does your work for money" also he says "You must get your living by loving."    I know in my own life I've taken on the mantra," learn to embrace the thing that gives you the most difficulty". By doing this you will soon learn to love or at least not hate that which gave you so much pain. Oriental thought says to give as much love to washing the dishes that you give to preparing a fine banquet. I have learned to bring this to my own life and I think it is part of  what has brought sincere and deep felt happiness into my life. When you cook, clean or do any of those seemingly routine chores for family and friends it should be an expression of your love for them not a task that takes you away from the computer or tv. It should be the sincerest outpouring of your love and should bring a smile to your face.  You can decide and focus your thoughts and mind.  Its only work if you let it be work, if you look at it right it could even be fun and maybe a game.

Today!

Actually this should be titled the other day when I first had it in my head. Today,  it has been snowing all day and there is nearly a foot on the ground with no end in site, but three days ago it was a different story! It was a beautiful blue sky day, probably in the 50's. I took a walk of  about 3 miles or so. It was truly a beautiful day. It is something how after the first mile your spirit lifts and soon thoughts fill your head. It is as if your not only exercising your body but brain and spirit also.  I just read Thoreau's essay called "Walking" he describes it in much  better prose then I ever could and you should make time to read it.
As for me I look forward to the day when I can go for a walk and use the sun and moon as my timepiece and the path before me as my agenda for the day!

Initiating change

When I left South Carolina, gave up most all of my possessions, I didn't really know what I was getting into. Working seasonal jobs is mostly young adults not yet burdened by what is called life these days.
What my travels and adventures, such as they are, have done is put me back in touch  with who I was and what I was passionate about in my earlier years, before jobs, bills and relationships got in the way. I lead a life filled with the wonder of a child and all that there is to see and experience in this life. I consider myself blessed in so many ways and am happier then I have been in some time. Now I am trying to turn that to others by giving back. Coats for the needy, cans of food for the food drive. On a larger scale I have rediscovered the "Rainforest Action Network" and "The World Wildlife Fund".  I used to be passionate about these organizations. Contributing time and money.
Our country was built on giving back and being involved. Before mass media,  people gathered in taverns and on street corners to discuss the topics of the day. If a families barn burned down, they didn't look for government assistance. Their neighbors were there to immediately lend a hand and rebuild.
I hear a lot of people complaining about the job that Obama has done since he has been in office. His presidency, like Jimmy Carter's was built on a grass roots effort. The change he talked about was at the grass roots level.  I ask you where are all those volunteers now? What have they done to help advance the dream?  Obama and Carter told the people the truth and trusted the American people to do the right thing. Their failure is our failure because we as a people did not pick up the mantel and initiate positive change in our own communities. We as a people have become complacent and now look to the government, insurance companies and lawyers to settle all of our problems and find blame anywhere but with our selves.
Our country wasn't set up that way. For our democracy to survive and  to thrive, it takes action and involvement from the populace. Other wise it slides more and more towards tyrants who overtax and overburden us with laws to protect us from ourselves and keep us docile by subverting our attention by making things like "Dancing with The Stars" or "American Idol" news worthy.
I have written letters that have been published, been involved in a boycott that changed they way they fish the seas to save dolphins. I vote Libertarian as a protest vote to the way things have gotten in America. I'm not trying to point fingers or pass any judgement. I'm as guilty as the next guy at being complacent and being distracted by other things around me.
But it is time to initiate positive change in our lives and each one of us can make small changes by being involved in our families and communities. I have 312 friends on Facebook. what if each one of us spent as much time volunteering in our communities as we spend on "Farmville"? What if we spent just have the time that we spend watching TV, writing letters and getting involved with our families and communities?
It would cause a small ripple of positive change that would grow larger every time someone took positive action. It doesn't take a lot. How much does a can of food cost? Who doesn't have an extra coat or sweater? How long, especially now with email, does it take to write a letter about an injustice or even something remarkable good?  If you take action positive change will happen! More importantly by taking action, positive change will happen in your own life. I swear to you for every good action, for every positive thing you do to make things better, for every one you help, it will come back to you a hundred fold, your life will be richer because of it.
