Thieves Essential Oil ~ The Organic Germ Killer

I've used many of the Thieves products from Young Living and all of them are great.  From the cleaners to the tooth paste, you can't go wrong.


Thieves essential oil blend is hands down my favorite oil of the season. Well really, one of my favorite oils ever. Walking the Walk

             I have worked and studied and somehow been led to this very blessed life. I don't have a lot but I lack for nothing. When ever I need something, it seems to mysteriously come to me. I've gone from constant struggle to, most of the time what I do is play. There are several reasons for this; through my endeavors, faith, praying and searching, I have been led to a great place to live. I was led to Jerry and Cheri at the Bar Lazy J and thanks to them, I have been able to grow leaps and bounds creatively in my cooking. Since being led to "Young Living" my life feels more abundant and I'm healthier than ever. Its not perfect, there are blips, its not a perfect world. On a personal level, this past summer wasn't the easiest. I'm still struggling with that last 20 pounds, I lose a few, gain a few, but in the end I'm going in the right direction. even if its a pound every so often. I also struggle with who that old guy is in the mirror. It couldn't be me, I feel twenty years younger than that guy looks. But, everything has been rolling along the past few years and its a damn site better than where I was fifteen years ago.
           I have had a feeling that I have not been giving back enough. Sure, I give old coats to the needy and I support certain causes, but it doesn't seem  enough. I'm not engaged. Actively being engaged and giving back to the community is a big part of my spiritual and political beliefs. I feel I've been preaching more than I've been doing. If we are going to get big government off our backs than we all need to be engaged in our communities at all levels. I truly believe that the more good you do and the more you give, that the more you will receive, in so many ways. In the past year I've looked around and thought its time to come off the mountain, its time to come out of my cave of solitude and actively engage the community.
     I have been doing just that. Volunteering in the community dinner at Thanksgiving, participating in the chili cook off  to support the charter school, donating to the library, really taking a hard look at some of the clothes I have and never wear.
     I think we all need to do this. It really does give you a sense of well being and doing good, it does come back to you.
        Not to often during the winter but, during the summer on pay day, I'll buy $20 worth of scratch-off tickets and 2 Powerball tickets, a total of $26. I stopped for gas on the way home last night after helping out at the community dinner and just by chance scratched my gambling jones. The scratch-off payed $30, Powerball is tomorrow night.

Beet Juice and Detoxifier

      I have a cheap-o juicer, in fact it was free! ha,ha!!! Its kind of a pain in the ass and I can't wait to get a nice one, but that isn't what this is about. LOL!
      Do you love to juice? I do! That's why I deal with this one until I get my new one! ha,ha,ha, LMAO!
   Anyway~~~ I came up with this great recipe a few years ago. its a great detox, liver and kidney cleaner. Amend to it any way you want but it is sweet and you will feel every cell in your body soak up the goodness! ha,ha!!! This is the recipe in more to less of amount that I use. It takes a lot of parsley to make a little juice.

                                    cucumber
                                       celery
                                          parsley

      Below are all the benefits and cancer studies:  
                                 Most of the nutrient value of beets lies in the layer just underneath the skin, so simply wash this carefully so that it doesn't "bleed" and juice those beets. A beet is packed with nutrients, and contains vitamins C and A in the form of beta-carotene, the B-complex vitamins, thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2) and niacin (B3). Beets are also rich in the minerals calcium, for healthy bones, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium and also has lesser amounts of sodium, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium.
For centuries beetroot have been used as a cancer remedy in Europe and modern research has found that the selenium and other minerals found in this root vegetable have antioxidant properties which seem to particularly decrease the risks of breast, prostate, lung and colorectal cancers.
Beetroot juice is also thought to be cardio-vascular protective and can help to lower high blood pressure. A study undertaken by researchers at the University of Exeter, UK has shown that beetroot juice can help athletes as they need less oxygen to perform and this means there is less stress on the heart during exercise. It was found that the juice lessened fatigue and improved stamina but it isn't only athletes who can benefits from drinking it. It improves blood circulation and given the amounts of potassium in the juice, so you are less likely to have muscle cramps and cardio-vascular irregularities.
The trace mineral selenium is though to improve menopausal symptoms including hot flashes or flushes, and as it mimics the action of insulin is useful for diabetics, perhaps helping to prevent secondary symptoms such as macular degeneration and cataracts forming in the eyes. Selenium is also necessary for healthy hair and skin and is believed to slow the skin's ageing process, helping it retain its youthful elasticity. It also helps to increase the quality of a man's sperm and its production and also to help male potency. Perhaps this is why this vegetable was regarded as an aphrodisiac in ancient Greece and Rome. (They ate the green tops too as they are still eaten in the Mediterranean area.)

34 ways to Use Young Living Lemon Essential oil

  I have been using Young Livings Lemon Essential Oil for a few years now in my drinks and cooking. I LOVE it! Its great tasting and invigorating.
  Here are some other ways to use Young Livings Lemon Essential Oil;
Please note: These uses are for pure, unadulterated essential oils, like Young Living.  Please know that not all essential oils are the same!  Most essential oils are fragrant/cosmetic/perfume grade oils, however, Young Living Oils are therapeutic-grade and are safe for internal use! 
  1. To clean non-carpeted floors, add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to a bucket of water. Then add 5 – 10 drops of lemon, pine, or spruce essential oil. If the floor is especially dirty, add several drops of dish washing soap. This will clean even the dirtiest floor.
  2. To make a carpet freshener, add 16 – 20 drops of essential oils to 1 cup of baking soda or borax powder. Mix ingredients together well and place in a covered container overnight so that the essential oil can be absorbed. Sprinkle over carpet then vacuum the powder up.
  3. You may also put 3-7 drops of Lemon essential oil on a cotton ball and place it into a vacuum bag – doing this scents the air while vacuuming. If your vacuum collects the dirt into water, simply add a few drops into the water reservoir before vacuuming. This refreshes both the carpet and acts as an air freshener.
  4. Some essential oils can act as gentle stimulants to the limbic system of the brain by their scent, increasing alertness and concentration enhancing the capacity for learning, improving memory, and assisting many other cognitive functions. A wide range of essential oils offer these benefits, such as: Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary and Melissa. To help increase these functions simply inhale the chosen essential oil directly from the bottle or put a drop on a tissue and keep in your pocket for use throughout the day.
  5. Use 1–2 drops to remove gum, oil, grease, grease spots, glue and adhesives, and crayon from most surfaces. Tip: try a test area before to make sure you won’t ruin any finishes.
  6. Substitute lemon oil for lemon juice or lemon seasonings to flavor seafood, vegetables, beverages, and desserts. To use Lemon oil in place of the zest of “one” lemon – use 8 drops of Young Living Lemon essential oil.
  7. Combine 2–3 drops with water in a 4oz. spray bottle filled with water to help cleanse and sanitize kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
  8. Soothe or prevent corns, callous, or bunions by rubbing 1-2 drops of Lemon oil on the affected area, morning and evening.
  9. Fill a bowl with cold water, add 2–3 drops of Lemon oil, and drench fruit and vegetables in the lemon water to extend the shelf life of fresh produce.
  10. Add a drop to your dishwasher before the wash cycle for spot-free dishes.
  11. Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and contains compounds that have been studied for their effects on immune function. According Jean Valnet, M.D., the vaporized [diffused] essence of lemon can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of Lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria. 
  12. Lemon has been shown to have antidepressant effects in research done by Komori, et al.,1995. Diffuse or inhale Lemon oil to receive the benefits of aromatherapy.
  13. Lemon oil may help brighten a pale, dull complexion by removing the dead skin cells. Simply mix a drop with your cleanser to help promote healthier skin tone.
  14. Lemon oil can serve as an effective insect repellent. 
  15. Rub a drop of Lemon oil on a wart morning and night, may help it to disappear.
  16. Rub 1-3 drops of Lemon oil to clean a butcher’s block or other cutting surfaces to disinfect those surfaces.
  17. Add one teaspoon of lemon essential oil to one-cup mineral oil for an effective furniture polish.
  18. Homemade lemonade, in a blender mix 2 drops of Lemon oil, 2 tablespoons of honey and two cups of pure water. Adjust the amount of each ingredient to suit your own taste.
  19. Put a drop of Lemon oil on bleeding gum’s caused by gingivitis or tooth extraction to help with healing and disinfecting.
  20. Rub 4-6 drops of Lemon oil with 1 teaspoon of V-6 Massage Oil on cellulite, may improve circulation and help eliminate waste from the cells.
  21. Rub 4-6 drops of Lemon oil with 1 teaspoon of V-6 Massage Oil on varicose veins, may improve circulation and relieve pressure on the veins.
  22. Some find lemon oil to help remove warts. Rub a drop of Lemon oil on a wart morning and night, may help it to disappear.
  23. Put 10-15 drops of Lemon oil in each gallon of carpet cleaning solution to help pull out stains and brighten the rug. This also leaves a fresh smell in the room.
  24. Diffuse Lemon essential oil to freshen the air in your home or office.
  25. Add 1-2 drops Young Living Lemon oil to a glass of water, tastes yummy, no calories, and alkalizes the water. Tip: only use a glass glass as Lemon oil WILL dissolve items made from petrochemicals and styrofoam.
  26. Soak kitchen dishcloth overnight in a bowl of water with a drop of Lemon oil to disinfect and kill germs.
  27. Rub a drop of Lemon oil on your hands after using a public bathroom to sanitize hands.
  28. Use a paper towel soaked with several drops of Lemon oil to sanitize bathroom fixtures.
  29. Place a drop of Lemon oil on cold sores, herpes or other mouth ulcers to lessen pain, may aid in healing.
  30. Rub two drops of Lemon oil topically, may clear athlete’s foot.
  31. Heartburn is a burning pain felt behind the breastbone. It is most often the result of acid reflux, that is, when stomach acid rises up the esophagus where it irritates the lining. Lemon essential oil (which comes from the rind, not the pulp) is one of the best remedies for heartburn, as it causes the stomach to stop excreting digestive acids. Simply add a drop or two of Lemon oil to a small glass of water and drink.
  32. Relaxing & Rejuvenating Aromatherapy Bath Salt Recipe: 1 drop Grapefruit oil, 1 drop Lemon oil, 1 drop Orange oil, 1 drop Patchouli oil, 3 drops Ylang Ylang or Geranium oil, 1 cup Epsom Salts or Sea Salt. Add to running bath water. Soak for 20 minutes.
  33. NingXia Red Electrolyte Drink Recipe: Combine 2 oz. Ningxia Red
,16 oz. purified water
, 20 drops YL Mineral Essence
, 1 drop YL Lemon oil
, 1 drop YL Peppermint oil
, 1 teaspoon YL Blue Agave. Mix ingredients together in a glass bottle (I like to re-use my empty NingXia Red bottles to keep my water and mixes in, they’re nice sturdy bottles). You can make a more watered down version for the kids. More on NingXia Red.
  34. Refreshing Bacteria Killing Spray: You’ll need - 32 oz. spray bottle, 8 drops Spearmint oil, 8 drops Lemon oil, 6 drops Lavender oil, 6 drops Thyme oil, 6 drops Rosemary oil, 4 drops Eucalyptus globulus, and water. Fill spray bottle 7/8 of the way with water, add your Young Living essential oils. Shake the mixture well and periodically during use. This mixture smells as terrific as it is powerful at killing germs.

Getting started with essential oils

Since essential oils are highly concentrated substances, they need to always be diluted in a carrier oil such as sweet almond, grape seed, sunflower, jojoba or wheat germ. Look for oils that are organic or cold pressed to provide extra benefits to the body. These are easy to find in any health food store.

Useful applications

HERBAL REMEDIES FOR GALLSTONES

Gallstones occur when one of the compounds in bile, particularly cholesterol, becomes so saturated that it forms a solid. If a gallstone lodges in the bile duct, it can cause severe pain, inflammation, infection, and sometimes even jaundice due to the backup of bile.
However, there are some herbal remedies to prevent and treat gallstones. Avoiding gallstone trouble is advised, and often can be achieved by healthy eating.
About Gallstones
As with many health conditions, preventing gallstones is preferable to treating them after they have formed. Research indicates that a high-fiber, low-fat, low-cholesterol diet rich in vitamins C and E helps prevent stones from forming.
That's good news because items commonly found in simple gardens can help ward off gallstones. Vegetables and fruits, which tend to be high in fiber and vitamins, low in fat, and cholesterol free, are popular and healthy choices.

Herbal Treatments for Gallstones

In addition to preventative healthy eating, some herbs stimulate the gallbladder, promoting the flow of bile.
Dandelion and milk thistle are particularly useful. They contain bitter substances -- taraxacin in dandelion and silymarin in milk thistle -- that stimulate bile production.
Increasing the amount of bile produced decreases its concentration. And the greater volume is also more likely to flush out a stone.
These herbs can be taken as tea or tincture or eaten steamed. Trim the sharp edges off young milk thistle leaves. Mix them with dandelion greens and steam as you would spinach; you can even eat them raw.
Oregon grape enhances blood flow to the liver and increases bile production. It can be combined with dandelion and milk thistle in a tea. This blend is even more effective when mixed with herbs such as chamomile, marshmallow, and slippery elm, which have relaxing and soothing properties. This mixture will also help decrease gallbladder inflammation.
Rosemary stimulates bile production, too, while also eliminating any spasms that might occur in the bile duct. It is well-known for aiding fat digestion and is often used as an herb in high-fat dishes. Its flavor helps to cut the richness of fat. Several studies have shown concentrated mint oil capsules can, if taken for several months, help break down small gallstones. Wild yam is another herb that increases bile flow and is also said to lessen the pain of gallstones. Like rosemary, it is an antispasmodic herb.An ultrasound is needed to definitively diagnose gallstones. A qualified health care practitioner should monitor herbal treatment of them. Once stones have formed, they can cause urgent medical problems if they block the bile duct. In that case, surgery may be necessary. But if surgery is not needed and the they are not serious, herbal remedies can be a healthy and effective treatment for preventing and helping with gallstones. However, eating healthily to avoid getting gallstones in the first place is always advised. 
          I like to sprinkle Young Livings "Rosemary Oil" on pork and chicken just before serving.

Notes On Hunt Camp

                                        Healthier Than Ever
         
             The first year at "Hunt Camp" I didn't sleep well at all. I had the wrong kind of sleeping bag, I wasn't used to the altitude.... it was a learning experience. Last year, I was sick the whole time. This year, I have felt GREAT. Lots more energy. It takes me about two hours to do the things I need to do in camp (besides cook dinner) between the time the hunters leave at 6 am and the time they get back at 6 pm. There is a lot of down time.... time for naps. This year, some times even when I tried to lay down and take a nap, I just laid there and never went to sleep. That's how much energy I had, even into the third season when it was colder and I wanted to spend more time in my sleeping bag! ha,ha! I generally felt good all the time. I even had much more confidence riding horses on the muddy, icy, snowy trails in and out of camp.
         So... the difference? Familiarity, of course leads to things being easier. My reflexologist over in Frasher is fantastic and I saw her a couple of days before going into camp. There is just one more thing that I've been doing on a regular basis that I think might have made a big difference.
     I've been drinking one or two of Young Livings "Power Meals" a day. To the shake I add a few drops of "Silique Essence", a drop of clove, a drop of nutmeg, a drop of longevity and a drop of DiGize. Just before going to bed I apply "Valor" oil with a roller applicator down the middle of each foot. Then I rub a couple of drops of "Thieves" oil on the bottom of each foot.
     I  really have been feeling great! While in hunt camp I turned 58 . Everyone I know that is my age are on all kinds of medications. I am pretty much controlling any issues I have through diet and nutrition. Don't get me wrong I still have issues and 20 pounds to lose but I'm going to get there.
     I did go through a bad time this summer where things just didn't seem to be going right, seemed like everything was against me. Everything comes in cycles.... right! With out the bad we wouldn't know the good..... right! The important thing is that it seems that life has come to a place where the bad times don't last as long. It seems the times of good and blessed and magical are longer and longer.
      A couple of weeks ago I started back on two of my most favorite oils, "Abundance" and
"Magnify Your Purpose" and after a challenging summer and a not so great year financially I really am feeling like my life is more abundant and more blessed all the time. Its just a feeling and I think a great part of it is from using Young Living products

Something I learned From A 7 Yr Old

  The other day I was helping some friends move. Kids running and playing about. During a break in the action I noticed the little girl hugging a tree. I went over and as she was hugging the tree, I heard her thanking the tree for making oxygen for her to breath and cleaning the air and being pretty for her to look at and on and on. I thought how sweet and how right. I found myself hugging a tree with her and joined her in thanking it. Seems silly but I think we should do this more often. No political agenda or religious dogma just the truth through the eyes of a child.

notes from Hunt Camp 2013

                       Lavender- The miracle oil
    Hunt Camp is at 9000', its Oct and November. Its cold, dry and on top of that, as the cook I have to keep dishes washed. Lips and fingers, toes, nose and ears get chapped and cracked even with lotion and "Burts Bees".
   This past season in hunt camp I noticed one of my fingers was cracked, a common occurrence, I payed it no mine. Two days later I woke up and it was larger, sore, red and starting to ooze just a bit. I reached for the Lavender oil and rubbed a drop in it and covered it with a band-aid. Later in the day the band-aid started coming off, so I pulled it off. To my amazement, and I'm already a big believer in the miracles of Lavender oil, anyway, to my amazement the crack was all but healed up. you could barely tell it was there. I was truly amazed at how fast this really ugly looking break in my skin had been healed up. From infected looking to all but healed in a matter or about 5 or 6 hours.

Don't give up!

     Its been a challenging summer to say the least! July started out with kidney stones then my Dad died, I developed a bad cough, three trees fell on the family home back in SC, challenges with work as the season gets busier, I bought a used truck and it has a bad transmission, although I think the guy is going to make it right.
  You know, even through all that, even though I haven't quite shaken the cough and the status of the truck is unknown. I am feeling more energetic, more alive, happier than I have in a long time. In March; I weighed 232, I now I'm at 212. I'm feeling creative; last week I brewed my first beer and things are humming along.
     I can attribute a couple of things to this. First I want to say that with the start of the season, with the exception of a short bicycle ride or the occasional walk, I have done very little exercise. I attribute my success and my general buoyant good mood to two things the "new plan" diet. Low, low sugar and very high fiber and protein and "Young Living" products and essential oils.
    One note about the "new plan" diet; On this diet, I have found out the hard way , it is hard on your kidneys and you must drink tons of water. Take your body weight and cut it in half and that is how many ounces of water you must drink, or you run the risk of, like me, getting kidney stones.
    I'm not going to kid you. "Young Living" products are not cheap! But neither is the doctor and what price can you put on being happy and in a general good mood. It seems like after using essential oils, drinking ningxia red and drinking either "Balance Complete" or "Power Meal" on a regular basis for a couple of months my mood and energy goes through the roof and my cravings for junk food disappear.

What Not To Do

    "They" say it is best to walk in the morning. I'm to believe that we are all on our own rhythms and different things, times of day, etc effect us all differently. I feel best and get the most thinking out of walking by doing it in the afternoons.  With the coming season I get very busy and usually I'm out walking at dusk. Last night I was out walking in the last light of day, going up the last hill, I call the "Belly Buster". I'm carrying about a ten pound pack so I'm huffing and puffing a long when.... I suck in a breath and as I do....I suck in a big cloud of no see-ums.( I've seen a couple of mosquitoes, but hadn't realized that full hatches of bugs and no see-ums were out.) I gagged and spit but they were in the back of my throat, even a big swallow of water to try to wash them out of my throat didn't help much. I had that feeling of bugs in the back of my throat for the rest of the evening.
          You definitely don't want to suck in a throat full of bugs while your huffing and puffing up a hill!  HA! HA!

Try These Essential Oil Remedies


             Insomnia
~ Is A Thing Of The Past ~

    ~ Prior to being introduced to    
    YL oils, I took Trazadone and,
    later,     Ambien, to help me
    sleep. After getting Stress Away
    and Rutavala     at last year's
    convention, I began     using it
    every night before bed.

    I use the roll-ons - Rutavala
    first, zigzagging up my spine    
    from as far down as I can reach
    to the dimple at the base of my
    skull,then behind my ears, and on my wrists. I hold my wrists together for 10-20 seconds and then inhale 4 or 5 times. I wait a couple of minutes and then repeat with the Stress Away.

Now I fall asleep easily and don't wake during the night (and if I do wake up for some reason, I have no problem getting right back to sleep).

My son is my "outspoken" child. This is code for he is loud, he is strong and he will do whatever it takes to get his point across.

He is a cleft palate kid so he is not new to the surgery thing. He had two surgeries in China before we got him. Anytime we go to anywhere surgical-like, he totally FLIPS out. Screaming at the top of his lungs, fighting you, flopping around like a fish and flopping himself right off the side of the exam table. For example, last time we went to Shriners it took 3 nurses and me to hold him down for the doctor to look in his ears and listen to his heart. He has done this 6 times now.
When we walked into the clinic yesterday for a post-op appointment they said, "oh, it's him....." My son has a reputation! Even the doctor paused and said "oh..." when he walked in!

Before going to the hospital yesterday I applied Peace and Calming, Valor, Stress Away and Trauma Life. I mixed in an empty 15ml bottle 20 drops of each oil and filled it the rest of the way with carrier oil. I put a roller filament in the top and applied it to the bottoms of his feet at night.

He walked into the Shriners clinic with a smile on his face. He sat at the exam table happy and content. He waved at the doctor, sat extremely still and quiet without ANYONE holding him while the doctor looked in his ears. The doctor had to clean out one of his ears AND HE SAT THERE SMILING AND LAUGHING AND STILL AS CAN BE WHILE THE DOCTOR CLEANED OUT HIS EARS!!

When the doctor was finished Ian grabbed the doctor's hand and pointed at his ear as if to say, "keep going". My 11 year old daughter was with me and she sat there with her jaw hanging open and asked, "Mom, are you sure this is Ian?"
He normally spends 3/4 of each day sitting next to me in time out for bad behavior. His fits are random and VERY loud. After applying these oils to his feet in the morning and at night he hasn't had ANY fits or time outs in a week!!! This is HUGE!

Plateaus In Weight loss

         If you will notice ALL weight loss plans no matter how magically you will lose weight by taking what ever pill or drink, all of them will have a tiny disclaimer that results will vary and will improve with an exercise regime. I started out having about 45 pounds that I needed to lose. the first 15-20 lbs come off very quickly with improvements and a change in diet. I also do a few push ups and chin ups and walk at least 3 or 4 times a week. You will continue to lose weight and your health will continue to improve but it will slow down.
    I didn't, and I'm sure you didn't, get over wight over night. Things take time.  The only problem is when your weight loss slows down you will get discouraged and you will soon undermine your progress. Believe me I speak from experience.
         How to over come this;
            First, you must keep motivated. whatever motivates you to lose weight keep it in front of you. Keep it in the forefront. Look at it, go over it every morning when you get up and every night when you go to bed.
           Secondly, do something different. Do a different exercise. ride a bike instead of walking. I like to carry 10 lbs of weight when I walk and exercise. This fools your body into burning calories at a rate for someone that weighs 10 pounds extra. Your body doesn't differentiate between what is your weight and the weight your carrying. All your heart and things that control your metabolism knows is that it is having to work at that extra level of weight.
          Thirdly, I am no athlete and I am not good at sports in general. But find time and ways in your day to play. ANY activity where you move and challenge yourself is a good thing.
     If you have reached a plateau and we all do, try doing these things before you get discouraged. give yourself a week. Remember things take time, but if you do the things I talk about in this blog you will lose weight and your overall health will improve.
                   I guarantee you, these things that I talk about in this blog will help you on your way to a healthier joyful life.

Pushing Through Bad Times

            None of us are perfect. No plan is perfect. No relationship is perfect. No matter how good life gets there will be set backs. The Tao teaches us that with out the bad, the difficult, the bumpy road there could be no good. The bad makes the good that much sweeter.
          When you have a bad day, remind yourself that it wont last. Breath deeeeeeppppppp. Always have a favorite quote, antidote, song or phrase, what ever it is that inspires you, keep that close. Remember no matter how alone you are in your struggle you are not alone. We are struggling, each one of us on this earth struggle with you.
          Count your blessings. We all have them. Pray for better times and success, they will come!

Try This For An amazing Day


 The night before think of 6 things your thankful for and 6 positive things that you want to accomplish in your life.  Then pray, meditate, wish, hope, imagine that tomorrow is going to be a great day.  As soon as you wake up SMILE and tell your self your going to have a great day, think of something good.
      Sounds like a lot of New Age woo-woo I know but this works! I've used it many times.

Do You Toss and Turn In Your Sleep?

    Sometimes, I toss and turn in my sleep. If you do the same thing; Its not a very good nights sleep is it?
     I like to think it is the person we could be if we could be our best, trying to get out. Its the only time our brain can't send out negative thoughts and limitations.
     Its not a very good nights sleep though and it can be frustrating.
          These are some things that might help;
                                      Celestial Seasonings makes a great tea called "Sleepy Time". Drink a cup before bed time, no sugar.
                                       Do some slow deep breathing before laying down. Inhale through your nose with your tongue against the roof of your moth and fill up your diaphragm. Hold it for a second, lower your tongue and then slowly let the breath out through your mouth. Do this about ten times or so.
                                      My personal favorite is Young Living Essential Oils, Lavender Oil. I put a drop on the souls of my feet and on my temples. Diffusing it is wonderful, not only does it help relax you but it fills the room with the lovely scent of lavender.
   All three of these are easy and natural and from time to time have helped me gain a very restful nights sleep.

Catfish Salad with Fingerling Potatoes


                   
I came up with this healthy, tasty dinner tonight that falls right in with the New Plan diet.
                 I grilled a piece of cat fish seasoned with  Tony Chachere's seasoning, you could use grouper, flounder, most any kind of fish. I cooked the fingerling potatoes   half way in the oven and then threw them on the grill. I placed all on a big salad and topped with Paul Newman's Black Bean and Corn Salsa and Young Living lemon Essential oil.
   I like using the Paul Newman brand because all of the profits go to charity. Plus its a great substitute for regular salad dressing. If your on "Weight Watchers" salsa is a zero in the points category. Lemon Essential oil  is rich in limonene which has been extensively studied and is shown in clinical studies to reduce tumor growth. 

Beer! and the New Plan

  I'm a BIG beer drinker!
         Living in Colorado is like beer drinker heaven. I especially like the heavy IPA type beers. I knew this was going to be a problem with the new plan. Solution; Ft Collins Co, New Plant "Tread Lightly Ale. NOT an IPA true, but it is beer. It is gluten and sugar free. It fits right in with the New Plan, it is basically null, it has no protein, no sugar and no fiber. It taste pretty good with a slightly citrus flavor at the end. If you want a beer on the new plan this would be the one to drink.

Why Young Living?



  My own "Young Living" story starts about 4 years or so ago. I was getting a massage and noticed a bottle of Ningxia Red on the shelf and bought one. The material about all the antioxidants and the "Young  Living" brochures were so convincing. I thought what the hell, if nothing else I would smell good. An update and Meals

   UPDATE ON THE NEW PLAN:
             Its been nearly three weeks since I started the new plan and I am seeing a dramatic weight loss. As of this morning I've lost nearly 15 lbs.  I'm walking at least three miles every other day and it is slowly turning into every day.
I am also doing 20 or so push ups, 10 before and 10 after my walk. That number will increase every couple of day or so. I'm drinking 2 oz of Ningxia Red in the morning and 2 oz in the evening, I'm drinking a protein shake a day and a shake of Young Living "Balance Complete" .
     This is all extra. I know I have a slow metabolism. the walking at a brisk rate helps speed it up along with lowering blood pressure and helping with all kinds of other health related issues. The Ningxia Red is just a wonderful antioxidant drink full of energy with out the caffeine and guarana that other energy drinks have, it is much more subtle and works at the cellular level to give you sustained energy over a long period time. The protein drink and the Balance Complete actually help me meet the dietary goals of the new plan. The most important part of this plan is to get your servings of sugar down to 15 grams a day, get 35 grams of fiber and over a 100 grams of protein. Balance Complete is vegetarian, organic, full of vitamins and nutrients, its low glycemic and full of fiber. At first it takes a lot of label reading and comparisons but it doesn't take long to find the things you need to reach these dietary goals.
   A WORD ON MEALS;
             I am the worlds worst at getting up and eating breakfast. At this stage in my life I wake up pretty early and usually go to bed at a decent time. But I'm the worlds worst at waking up and drinking coffee for  a couple of hours before eating. Now by the second cup, I'm drinking a shake or eating a bowl of high fiber/low sugar cereal.  I've worked at night in restaurants for years. Although its been several years now I still like to eat a heavy late dinner. I'm eating some what earlier and lots of protein and fiber. If left to my own devices I'll snack a little and maybe eat one or two real meals a day. THIS IS TERRIBLE! My Mom said a few years ago that my body was in starvation mode and I think she was right, as Mothers usually are.  I was never hungry back then and often times wondered why I wasn't hungry. Now I eat 5 small meals a day some no bigger than a bowl of fruit or a bowl of cereal.  I seem to have more energy ( which will happen with weight loss any way) but  I'm losing weight and now if I don't eat a little something or drink a shake every 3 or 4 hours. I actually feel hungry! It actually a new sensation. Its enjoyable to eat again.

The Power of Music

                  Music is great it can be motivational and uplifting it can make a struggle easier.
        It was a beautiful spring day today and this afternoon I walked. For the first time I carried a pack with somewhere between 10 and 12 pounds. It was also the first time I took my I-Pod. I usually like to walk and ponder on things, but I thought what the hell. I had bought some new head phones on a recent trip to NYC and hadn't really used them much, maybe I would get a good work out. I turned the I-Pod to shuffle and started out at the usual quick pace I've developed. The first half is all up hill and although I kept my pace, I was soon huffing and puffing. I have a minimum of three miles but I usually do a little more even if its just a dozen steps or so. Today the extra weight was giving me an excuse to do just the minimum, at that point the music was good but wasn't really getting me going. As I was just about to turn around The Good Ol "Grateful Dead" came on and got me going. Walking to the beat of the "Dead" I walked an extra mile.
