First lets look at history; our grandparents and many of our parents generations didn't suffer from diabetes unless you were at high risk from genetic factors. I remember this as a kid. Few people had cancer, heart disease or high cholesterol even though people ate fattier foods. This was before the 60's when the word "wholesome" was used a lot. More on this on an upcoming blog post. Families didn't eat out a lot. In homes and restaurants most food was prepared from "scratch". There was no prepackaged, frozen, dehydrated, reconstituted, or food packages that sound like they have more in common with a chemical laboratory then my stomach. Food both meat and vegetables came from mostly local or regional farms.
Then came the 60's; we were going to be the bread basket of the world and supply every fruit and vegetable to everywhere in the country any time of the year and month. First came the heavy chemical spray programs to produce the perfect non blemished fruits and vegetables. Then came the chemicals to help store, ripen and transport green produce all over the country. Then things sped up. We were going to be given an easier more relaxed life style all through chemicals. High Fructose Corn syrup was added to the mix to make "cheap affordable" food. Preservatives and additives. We were going to be living the sweet life, everything was going to be so easy, just pop in the microwave and dinner would be ready in minutes.
Well my friends, we have been sold a pack of lies. If your not very, very careful your grocery store and certainly all fast food restaurants will slowly poison you to death. Diabetes is at epidemic proportions. Cancer and heart disease are prevalent through out our society. All because of the chemicals they are feeding us.
Don't eat to lose weight! Eat to be healthy! Don't eat fast food! Eat as much if not all organic. Even meat! Especially meat! Eat a mostly fruit and vegetable diet. A juicer or blender is one of the best things you can do for you health. Drink juice you make your self. DRINK green smoothies.
If you do this, I promise you that you will feel better. Physically, mentally and even spiritually.

After a lot of study over the last few months I've found out that our bodies are not designed to process that much protein. In order to process that much protein you must drink a lot of water. Something like half your bodies weight in ounces of water. That much protein is very hard on the liver and kidneys.
I've come to believe that an organic based plant diet with lots of juicing and smoothies is the best thing you can do for your health.

If you want to sweeten your life, if you want to make your life happier, if you want to bring more abundance into every aspect of your life. There is a simple technique that doesn't require you to do anything but look around and control your thoughts. Every morning when you wake up think about all the beautiful things around you. Look at all the things you can be thankful for. Even if your not in the best circumstances you can find things to be thankful about. A beautiful day, friends and family, good health, food, clothing, a roof over your head. The fact you don't live in a refuge camp in some war torn country. If you look around you will find so many things to be thankful for it will be amazing. If you will take a couple of minutes when you first wake up before you do anything else, you could start while your taking that first morning pee. I promise you your day will be so much brighter, so much more joyful. If you do this before you go to sleep and first thing in the morning, I promise that you will find that you have way more good days than bad days. This really works, try it for 30 days. It may not take that long but that is a good length of time to let the universe start responding to your gratitude with even more things to be thankful for. You will at that point find that good things start snow balling your way. You will find even more things to be thankful for and just like this crazy old man you will find your self grinning all over your self for no real reason at all, because you start realizing that it is a beautifu life. That all that stuff that they are trying to tell you and sale you on the TV doesn't really matter. Politics doesn't matter. Other peoples opinions don't matter. You realize that life is short and fleeting and all that really matters is right now, this moment, what ever is right in front of you. That is where your joy is, not in tomorrow or yesterday but right now, the sunset, your best friend, your pet, what ever is good and with you right NOW this very moment. Look at what is good in your life, be thankful and more good stuff will come your way.

I've sat in opulent churches where it seemed every time you turned around they were passing the collection plate. This has put a really bad taste in my mouth about churches and religion in general.
I've come to a point in my life where a different type of tithing feels better to me and my soul. I feel it is better to give of your self directly to some one in need with out judgement or ridicule. Certainly there are people who make big incomes off of pan-handling and there are schemers and scammers of all types but it is not for you to judge who is deserving and who is not. That is for God or the higher consciousness to judge. You never know who might really, really need help, you never know when your making a positive difference in some ones life, sometimes with just a kind word, some patience and compassion. This is tithing of the soul and IT does come back to you a hundred fold.
Case in point; I was just in New Orleans. It was a Friday night. My friend and I had just entered Bourbon Street from Canal St. when a guy who looked mentally and physically handicapped ran up to me. He came right up to me and asked for change. I gave him the fifty cents or so I had in my pocket. My friend, who has a whole lot more money than me, told me I was a lot nicer than him. I told him with out thinking that AHHHH it will come back to me. A little while later I stop and give some musicians a dollar out of my billfold. We go on and find a restaurant and as we are sitting down, I realize my billfold is not in my pocket. I rush back on to the crowded street with all its drunks and homeless people. I search and the billfold is not to be seen. I go back into the restaurant and some lady had given my billfold unknowingly to our waiter!!!! NOW, what are the chance that you drop your billfold on Bourbon St on Friday night and it comes directly back to you???? You can say this was a coincidence or you might could say that god and the Universe was testing the sincerity of my thought process when that guy ran up to me asking for change and then payed me back for doing the right thing. Say what you want but this is pretty good proof that giving from the heart with out judgement comes back to you! If your like me and don't like to give out money for fear of feeding someones drug or alcohol addiction then carry around candy bars or food coupons. Look through your closets for clothes and shoes you don't wear and give them away. All, most ALL of us have way to much STUFF and could help some body out by giving some of the unused stuff to those more needy.
It works, give with out thinking or judgement.

This is a pretty powerful video.
The phrases "Thoughts become things." and "You have to be the change you want to see in the world." comes to mind. It sounds like a bunch of new age, hippie dippy pie in the sky bull shit but I'm living proof that your thought and feelings do change things. I was in a deep and dark place. I quite by luck found my way out west where I found people who were the happiest I'd ever seen. Some of them only had a back pack full of stuff as possessions. They were busy living life today and not worried about acquiring things or what may or may not happen. It changed my whole out look. Over the last ten years or so I've grasped the notion that you do have to feel and "see" the life you want. I can only say my life just keeps on getting better and more abundant and I truly feel like its because I have that out look. Its where I focus my thoughts, I truly feel like each and everyday is going to be a great day!!!

As a chef for around 30 years I've noticed, in the last 5 years a sharp increase in #food #allergies. While doing some research on food allergies, exploring recipes and causes, I came across the fact that a craving of chocolate is a symptom of magnesium deficiency. This was very interesting to me and on further study found out it affects weight loss, insulin resistance, ageing and other health problems that I am dealing with.
I've been taking a magnesium supplement for about a month now and I'm pleased to say the cravings are virtually gone. Used to, every time I went to the grocery store it was a battle to buy or not to buy a candy bar for the ride home. I can honestly say that I can't remember when the last time I thought about chocolate! Over the past month I've been exercising a little bit more a very little bit. The big change is eating a pretty much 90% organic, 80% vegetable based diet. The annual health fair is this Saturday. It will be interesting to see my results, although, I think it would have been better after three months, so if the results are not what I'm hoping for I'm still going to continue. I just don't think a month is long enough to get great results when you have had a life time of bad habits.

Just a few years ago; #Soy was the health rage. It had heart rate and cholesterol lowering properties with good amounts of plant protein. Now it is to be avoided at all cost! Its made from #GMO#Soy and its filled with estrogen and things that are harmful to the body. Same thing with eggs. OH!they were the cause of Americas high cholesterol epidemic. ESPECIALLY the yolks! Everyone was so "in" eating their "healthy" egg white omelets! Now; the news is eat an egg! The protein content and quality can't be beat and especially eat the yolk because that is where all the really good stuff is, along with the cholesterol! Turns out it may be Americas lazy, TV and sugar addicted, sedentary life style that might be the problem.
All the nutrition and food information can be very confusing! Different studies will tell you different results on a lot of things!
Here is what I think you should do;
Always seek out new information. Never quit learning. This has also been shown to help protect the brain from aging and disease.
Here is the one BIG thing to remember; WE ARE ALL different! What may work for me might not work for you. Research and find what speaks to you! I hope what speaks to you wont be cake and soda!LOL!!! Its true though we all metabolize differently, we are all different sizes, different environmental factors. In this blog all I can tell you is what has and has not worked for me. I URGE you to try to educate your self, try things for yourself, see what works for you so you can find your own path to wellness, Abundance and good Health.

This is one of my favorite "Young Living" products! I'm not the best at getting up and eating breakfast right away. So, as my coffee is brewing I drink a shake and a big swig of NinGxia Red! In this video he adds peppermint oil. This is a great tasting drink with out any oils. The best I've ever tasted but I like adding a citrus oil. I also add DiGize,cinnamon bark oil and nutmeg oil, so you can add pretty much anything you want depending on what taste your looking for or what your trying to accomplish. I've watched a couple of this guys video and he makes a lot of sense! I know in my own case; Although I was grossly overweight, I was surprised when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I've never been a big one for sweets. I have my moments and my weaknesses but I understand them and control them. I crave chocolate and now I understand that is a magnesium deficiency which is also linked to insulin and how it is absorbed. The biggest thing is I've always been a big meat eater. I really consider myself an Omnivore but meat is usually a big part of my diet. Now this explains the connection of meat protein and diabetes. Its something to think about. I know I had already been eating a more plant based diet before watching this. Now meat might become a treat just like my consumption of pizza and cookies! LOL!!!!

The Medicinal Benefits of Milk Thistle
- Liver Problems - Milk thistle's primary claim to fame is its ability to treat a variety of liver conditions.
