Weight Loss and Better Health in the New Year

I know a lot of folk’s take stock of their lives at the end of the year and make New Year’s Resolutions. A lot of people want to lose weight and gain better health in the coming year. I’d like to tell you about something that has really helped me a lot.
“Restore Your Core” by Young Living helped me a lot in my weight loss. I’m not going to try to tell you it was the only thing. Like any other weight loss plan I included exercise and watched what I ate. But the “Restore Your Core” plan, I feel, played a major part in my initial weight loss.
The package comes with Ningxia Red, a drink infused with essential oils and Wolf berries.
Wolf berries have one of the highest amounts of antioxidants of any of the products out there. It is shown that the people who live in the province of China where the wolf berries are grown have one of the highest longevity rates . It comes with a meal replacement called “Balance Complete”. I can not say enough good things about this product. For one thing, unlike a lot of the meal replacement drinks,” Balance Complete” actually taste good! This super-food based meal replacement is a powerful energizer and nutritive cleanser, has an impressive 11 grams of fiber, its high in protein, enzymes and vitamins. It absorbs toxins, satisfies the appetite and balances blood sugar. When I lost 35 lbs I was drinking 3 shakes a day. The first day or two I was a little hungry. I snacked on apples and on Young Living’s Apricot Manna Bars. Sometime around the third day I lost any hungry feelings I might have had. After that just like the literature says. My body got used to the good nutrients I was putting into my body and the water I was drinking. I lost all my bad food cravings and to this day, I don’t eat hardly any pizza. Which is saying a lot, it used to be a major part of my diet. Also with your package comes a box of core supplements. Conveniently packaged in am, noon and pm daily packs. “True Source” uses nutrient-dense super fruits and vegetables to deliver a full spectrum of bioactive vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It contains”Longevity” which has ultra-antioxidant essential oils working at the cellular level to protect cell growth and prevent abnormal cell growth. “Omega Blue”provides a clinically proven dose of pure fish oil and an essential oil blend that supports a healthy inflammatory response and supports a normal cholesterol level. “Life Five” provides five of the most clinically proven and advanced probiotics, including three super strains that represent the most health-promoting and viable strains ever prepared in a supplement. This all comes together in a “Restore Your Core” package. Because I had just been diagnosed with type two diabetes and I have been so totally sold on the importance of a healthy digestive tract ( Not only by Young Living but by a lot of other literature I’ve recently read) I also took two other Young Living products. “Digest and Cleanse” a premium essential oil blend that supports healthy digestion and natural cleansing of the body. The other is “Essintialzyme”, a multi enzyme and essential oil blend that promotes a balanced and healthy digestive function.
Now just like anything natural, your not going to see results over night. I hardly saw any results the first 30 days. You have to give it at least 60 days, I suggest 90. I noticed that even after quitting taking these products that for about a month that my metabolism was still pretty high. Even recently, I put my weight gain in check and even lost 8 lbs just by drinking one shake for breakfast and taking the supplements. This was without doing any exercise, but I did watch what I was eating a little better.
If your serious about losing weight and gaining good health I strongly suggest you try these products. I guarantee you will see and feel a difference!

Try Halichrysum oil

One of the most ancient and sacred of the oils is helichrysum. Helichrysum is from a Mediterranean plant, whose highest quality maybe found only mostly in the Corsican island of France, Spain and Italy, even though other varieties maybe found almost anywhere in the world. Its botanical name is Helichrysum Angustifiola, more popularly known as Immortelle, Italian Everlasting or St. John's herb. The Helichrysum, pale to golden yellow to almost reddish in color, is known as the most powerful essential oil in terms of its healing and regenerative properties. Its scent is a combination of being strongly fresh, fruity, with both honey and tea undertone.

Aromatherapy has been widely popular these last few years due to its benefit in both physical and spiritual healing of the body. The choices of different essential oils for aromatherapy had been dictated by the desired effects its users want from them. Helichrysum oil has become almost as popular as lavender and tee tree essential oils because it provides restorative properties for both the skin and the soul as well.

Since the ancient times, Helichrysum essential oil has been used by the Europeans for tissue repair and healing. Since it has both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, as well as antiseptic, Helichrysum is best for skin problems like acne, burns, allergies, stretch marks, wounds and even old scars and keloids. Helichrysum is known also as an effective free-radical scavenger, great for the skin problems and diseases.

Aromatherapy, first and foremost, touches the soul and heart of the person. This is most especially true to an oil that heals both the body and the soul of the person. Its earthy and herbaceous scent makes Helichrysum oil known to heal not only new and old skin scars, but scars of the heart and soul as well.

When you're broken spiritually or hurt in love or betrayed by the only person you love or just simply tired, an aromatherapy with a massage with Helichrysum essential oil is in order. It has calming and antispasmodic properties can be good in treating depression, nervous exhaustion, and other stress related problems.

Helichrysum's anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties are perfect for reducing pain and speed up healing of the both physical and spiritual injuries. Unlike other essential oils that may be contraindicated for some people, it has been found to be relatively safe. And because when used in aromatherapy, helichrysum provides a warm and relaxing atmosphere, it is also great in reducing hypertension.

Update on my own health and well being

As I’ve said in the past, I hope to share with you how I’ve gotten to such a good place in my life and hope that it will inspire or give you ways to help you with your own quest for a good healthy life.
So.... I feel an update every now and then on how my own health is and what I’ve been doing, good or bad is important. A reality check is always good!
In the early spring I was really walking a lot. I was walking 3 to five miles a day and feeling good. Then the summer season started and I’m a little disappointed because I didn’t hardly do any walking and got in very few hikes. I did have a good summer. Me and my friend explored as many dirt roads and camping spots as possible. We also would go out on Monday or Tuesday and pick a spot and set up camp. There are a lot of places within a 10-30 min drive of the ranch. Sometimes we would leave the camp set up until Sunday, going back and forth to the ranch.
Anyway, over the summer and through the month of October my weight had inched up a few pounds. I took notice and started paying attention. I had been left with a lot of beer when everyone left the ranch and was drinking about 3 or 4 a night, I have cut back to two. I have been trying to get more raw foods into my diet. I take several supplements. I take a multi-vitamin, fish oil, magnesium and DHEA. I take several products from Young Living, “Digest and Cleanse”, “ Essential Enzymes”, I drink about 2oz of “Ningxia Red” a day and I drink a shake in the morning called “Balance Complete”
I still haven’t gotten back to walking, but by just paying a little more attention, I have lost 10lbs.
For those that don’t know, I was diagnosed with type two diabetes three years ago. My blood sugar is now regularly between 95 and 105. The other day it spiked at 135 but I had a bunch of Chinese food and on that day I drank about 4 beers. Most of the time I check my blood sugar very infrequently. But because I wanted to do this update, the past couple of weeks I have been checking it everyday at different times during the day and am very pleased with the results I’m getting.

For a Healthy Face

The climate in the mountains of Colorado is really dry! You couple that with a bit of sun and wind burn and it really does a number on your face. Last spring my face was looking rough, I didn't know if it was age sneaking up on me, skin cancer or what. A doctor at a health fair told me it was Rosacea. I've been trying to put lotion on more often, but the last couple of weeks I've been trying something new and I am starting to see some good results. I've been putting a drop of Lavender oil in aloe vera lotion once or twice a day. It seems to be working My face looks a bit healthier. I hope to report back the first week of January with some definite good news.

the secret of life

I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it.
Charles M. Schulz

peppermint oil

I've mentioned Young Living Essential oils in previous post. I have been using their products for about three years now.
When I first started using these products I figured if nothing else I would smell good! ha,ha!!! I have become totally sold on the health benefits of the products I've used so far.
Peppermint oil is wonderful! Put a drop in your water for a refreshing drink and it is good for the health of your digestive system. Feeling tired? Put a drop in the palm of your hand, then cup your hand over your nose and breath deep, also rub a drop on the back of your neck and the temples of your head. Its an immediate uplift and refresher. It really works check it out at https://www.youngliving.org/edeye

today's qoute

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Buddha

Walking and water for good health

I know I wrote, on my other blog, a walking man blog a few months ago. But enough can't be said about getting out in the fresh air.
At first don't worry about how far or how fast. I know a man near 90 that walks up and down his driveway everyday. When shopping at the mall, don't go for the "rock star" parking. Instead park as far away as possible. It will only take a couple more minutes. As you walk more and more you will find water helps. Many a time, while out hiking, I feel I can't go any further. I sit for a few minutes and drink some water and all of a sudden I'm a mile further down the trail. Drinking water helps curb you appetite and just like walking after a few weeks your body misses it if you don't keep it up. Just get out and do it. Make the change in your life. Its good for your body and mind.

Be Thankful

On this Thanksgiving morning 2010, I have many blessings to count and no matter what your station is in life, I bet you do too, if you look around and think about it for a minute. If your reading this then you probably have a roof over your head, food to eat, your probably not living in hut with a dirt floor and hopefully, although the weather might be bitter where you are, your not being ravaged by some natural disaster. If your in America, then even if your homeless you have more options then people in third world countries. I’ve met lawyers and electrical engineers from other countries that made more money in America washing dishes and cleaning rooms then working in their chosen profession in their homeland. I think we all have a lot to be thankful for.
Wishing you good health and a life full of joy!

A word about prayer

I am not a very religious person. I like to say that I’m where Christianity, Taoism and Buddhism meet. Ha,ha!!! I will say, if you want to better your situation or are concerned about a person or situation, then pray. I am here to say that prayer works. It doesn’t have to be my god or anybody Else's god , it doesn’t have to be to god at all. You can pray to the heavens, the sun, moon or a tree. Just pray!
Start out by being thankful. No matter how low we get, there are things to be thankful for. A beautiful sun rise or sun set, the moon and the stars, the roof over our heads, the bed that gives us comfort. Be thankful for the sun and the rain that nourishes our crops so plants can bear food for our table. Be thankful for the food on your table, the friends and loved ones no matter how imperfect they may be. Be thankful for the past prayers that have been answered, miracles and good things in your life. then pray for good things to happen. Its not a sin to pray for success and good things to come to you. Try it! It works!

Wrap your mind around this

I almost included this with "realizations" but I think its really important to realizing your higher self. It might take a bit of thinking and sight to wrap your brain around this but, I think if you try, you will see it makes perfect sense. So, take a Deep breath, open your mind and try to follow this!
If you didn't have bad times, enemies and ugliness in your life, how would you know the good times or beauty, how would you know who your true friends were? When my wife left it was the worst day of my life but it opened doors and brought a lot of beauty into my life. Now I look back and that day was also the best day of my life. So..... it seems right to say that ugliness brings beauty into your life and hard times brings good times and that beauty and good times are made oh! so! sweeter because of the bad and the ugliness.
Learn to embrace the thing you can't stand the most. I love to cook but its not all glamor. There are shrimp to peel, oysters to shuck, dishes to wash and floors to sweep and mop. Try to do the things you can't stand with the same love and thoroughness as something you love. You will soon find out its not so bad after all

Realizations

The first thing we need to do on this journey to get our lives on this road is to come to some realizations. No matter what we do there are some things that we can not change and the best thing to do is realize this and to come to terms with it.
#1 Nothing or no one is perfect There is no perfect person, job or thing. We all have our faults and must come to understand them and work to improve them. We also must accept others and their imperfections. The thing is, we all carry a bit of darkness and a bit of light. We must evaluate each situation in our life and look for the good. Then we must decide if the good outweighs the bad. If it doesn’t then a change needs to be made. If the good is greater, then when things or situations challenge us we must remember the good and work through the bad or imperfect.
#2 Big things happen in small ways. Things don’t seem like they are moving in the right direction or fast enough but as long as you keep sending out positive signals and keep your eye focused on the goals, good things will happen.
#3 There will be setbacks. Everyone has hard times. Everyone falls short of their goals every once and awhile. When things go wrong, when you fall short of a goal, don’t get too down about it. Tomorrow is a brand new day. The past is past, don’t live in yesterday look forward to tomorrow and what miracle it might bring.
#4 Laugh and laugh often Learn to laugh at yourself and everything else. Life is short, it passes very fast and though some things might seem important right now, really the only thing that matters is how much you can do to make yourself a better person and to do what you can for others then let this spread outward to your family, your community, state , nation and the world. By improving yourself it sends ripples out to everyone and it improves everything.
#5 Nothing is Easy, it can look easy, if your doing it right it can look very easy, but everything takes time and preparation. See #2
#6 What you put out in the world in your thoughts, words and action comes back to you. We are born without prejudice, hatred and religion. It doesn’t matter if your black, white or purple poked dotted. It doesn’t matter if your Christian, Muslim or Jewish. When you were born and even now all you want to be is happy. I tell you here and now to be happy you must learn to forgive those that wish you harm. They only wish you harm because of human conditioning. You see its not peoples fault they are evil. When they were a baby they were the same as you. Learn to love everyone, for everyone is special in their own way. Forgive yourself and in doing that realize we are all imperfect. Give of your self to others in some small way and it will come back to you a hundred fold. It can be as simple as donating an old coat, a can of food, volunteering to work a soup line or picking up garbage on the side of the road. Small steps leading to big changes in your community and your life.

Announcing Young Living

I want you to know that all I want to do is help you with what has worked for me. I have been using a line of products for three years now that I firmly believe in. I have become a distributor and will be talking about some of the products I’ve been using in future blog’s I hope you will check it out at http://www.youngliving.org/edeye
I’ll only tell you about the products that I have had success with. If you use Young Living products. I hope you will post your comments.

A good Way to start the Day

When you get up in the morning face east, to gather the morning suns energy. Spread your legs shoulder length apart. Let your arms hang loose down by your side. With your hips, start twisting and swinging your body from side to side. Let your head and arms swing free. Your arms should hit your side and shoulders as they swing back and forth.
Do this 20-30 times each morning. It’s a great way to loosen your body and get started in the mornings. It also gets the blood flowing and move stagnant blood and energy in your system.
Also, if you are having trouble getting out of bed in the mornings. Take your hand and rub where your spine meets the bottom of your head. It will help clear the cob webs Ha,ha

Here is something easy to do and has an almost immediate impact on your life

The last thing you do before going to bed , say to yourself “ Tomorrow is going to be a great day.
Then the first thing you do when you wake up, say to yourself and or to the first person you see “Today is going to be a great day”
You will still have bad days, sorry nothing is for sure, But I bet you that you will start to see more and more good days.

Before we start

A lot of what I'm going to tell you is going to sound like a lot of WHOOOO WHOOOOO. Maybe it is. I don't know. All I can tell you is I've spent the better part of the last 10 years or so studying and trying to get my life into a positive place. To get out of a negative, unhealthy cycle. All I can tell you is what's worked for me. The only thing I can tell you for sure, is that it will take time and effort. Some of the things, you will see an almost immediate benefit, others will take weeks. months or even years to see the benefit. I stumble all the time, I am not perfect and am constantly trying to do better. But I know all this works to make life better so when I do stumble, I reset my goals and carry on. I hope you will try some of the things and products I write about for at least a month. Give it a chance. See what happens after a month. AND PLEASE Share your comments ans experiences with others. thanks

My Story

I guess you should first know my story and how I got to the wonderful place I’m at today.
About 15yrs or so ago I was living a life of desperation. Trying to keep a wife happy, a roof over our heads and food on the table. It was a struggle to say the least. Then unexpectedly and with out warning my wife left to go to work and never came back. I was devastated I sank into a deep, dark depression. Time and money didn’t mean a thing. I slept for days, only getting up to go to work. Where the money went, to this day, I do not know. When she left, at the time, it was the worst day of my life. I sank lower, ruining other relationships, ruining my credit and heading down the road to drug addiction. Five years went by, I quit crying but nothing else had improved.
I found myself at a dead-in career wise, and either working to try to keep my place up and together or working to try to pay for something. I was in a rut and sinking fast.
Then the magic started to happen. In the summer of 1998 while leafing through a copy of Outside Magazine I saw an article on how to find jobs in outdoor geared resorts. It talked about a website called CoolWorks.com that had job listings in and around state and national parks. I don’t know how or why but something inside of me told me that this is something that I could do. I had always wanted to go to Alaska, what a better way to spend a summer and get paid at the same time. I had never been on a computer before. I went to the library, sat down at a computer not even knowing how to type or turn the thing on, got on line and opened my first email account. I filled out a resume at CoolWorks. The only problem was it was late summer and there were only winter jobs available. Out of curiosity I shotgunned my resume out to some interesting sounding places. To my surprise I heard back from the sweetest lady named Rebecca at a snowmobile resort just outside of Jackson Hole. I had a friend that had gone out to Jackson Hole back in the 80's and had loved it. I said why not. It was only for 3months I could do anything for 3 months no matter how bad it was and it was half way to Alaska.
I remember sitting in my living room a few days before New Year’s Eve, truck packed, leaving all me “stuff” from the past in the care of others, filled with trepidation. I had heard horror stories from friends talking about how hard it was to find gas stations and how I had to be prepared for anything. Some thought I was running from my problems. I seriously didn’t know how all this was going to turn out.
As it turned out it was the greatest experience I’ve ever had. It was absolutely beautiful. I saw things and did things I never dreamed of doing. The people I worked and lived with were half my age but they drug me along, hiking in the snow, snowmobiling, sledding. I made life long friends, and even made an ill fated attempt at skiing. Ha,ha It seemed I reconnected with something I had lost along the way many years ago.
I enjoyed it so much I went back the next year. At the end of the season I went to Cheyenne Wy. To the Sierra Trading Post, went to there discount barn and bought a bunch of backpacking equipment. As I traveled back east I stopped at libraries and obtained a job up on Mackinaw Isl. That was both a great experience but it was also not a good one. I did do some hiking and bicycling but I was only beginning, but I had a glimpse of what could be. I had met people who were beyond rich and you would have never known it by the way they acted, I had also met the happiest people I had ever met and they had no more then what they could carry in their backpack.
I made it back to Spartanburg just before Halloween, filled with the vision of continuing going hiking and returning to a good life. But it was not to be, I quickly fell back into the life I had before. 5 more years went by. Things were getting bad. With out much thought or planning I packed what I thought I needed, got a job in the norther part of Colorado at a ranch called Rawah. Turning my back on everything I had known for close to 50yrs. I drove my battered little pick up truck back west. Rawah was another WONDERFUL experience. I hiked even more. Really rode horses for the first time, went rafting in a magical place called the Poudre Canyon or Cache de la Poudre. Fell in love with the towns of Ft Collins, Steamboat springs and a funny little community called Centennial Wy. Positive things began happening. I was beginning to live life again. A winter in Az and then back up to the Jackson Hole/ Dubois area. This is where I really started making changes in my life I really started going out walking and hiking, I bought myself a bicycle and started riding it. After a summer and then a winter living in the town of Jackson, a wonderful couple from a guest ranch in Colorado came up to visit me and offered me a job at the Bar lazy J.
I got there in May and just before the season started I came down with a nasty staff infection. I was in the hospital nearly a week. Jerry and Cheri were so wonderful, I don’t even think they knew what the menu was going to be. But they never ever questioned me about it. Because of their unwavering support I continue to reach new goals and bring my cooking almost to an artistic level. In no other setting would I be able to create and to teach myself to bake bread. That was all coming and to this day continues. At that time though I found out I had ballooned to 247 pounds and was a type 2 diabetic. I had to make some real changes. I started walking 3 miles a day. I quit drinking for a month. Things like pizza are now special treats. I pretty much give up tv for half the year and don’t miss it at all.
One day while driving down the road, I noticed a place that advertised massages. I have been a big believer in therapeutic massage and chiropractor. A week or so later I went in and met a wonderful lady name Marie that introduced me to reflex ology and raindrop massage that incorporates essential oils. It was wonderful and it was the greatest smell in the world. She also introduced me to a product call Red Ningxia . I quickly became a convert to Youg Living Essential oils. I started taking a series of products called restore your core. It consist of a shake. Now I’ve tried a lot of these weight loss shakes and most don’t have the best of taste but this one taste great it also has some vitamins with essential oils in them. The weight began to fall off. Now the other thing are essential to weight loss but the weight really started falling off when I started using the Young Living products. I got down to about 212 pounds
Good things keep happening. Its not perfect, nothing is and really to make positive steps in your life that’s the first thing you need to realize. Nothing is perfect, everything takes time, there will be bad times but if you handle it right it will make the good times that much sweeter and you try to plan for when the times are not so good. I have gained a lot of the weight back by not keeping with my plan but I have consistently kept off 15- 20 lbs for the last 3 years. I still could eat better and at times I drink a little too much. BUT, I keep exploring, walking and finding things to learn about. I keep plodding along. I don’t have a lot of money but in the past few years I have made friends all around the world. I have seen things and done things that I have never dreamed of. I continue to struggle with weight loss, mainly dew to laziness. But I my spirit and soul is richer then ever. I delve into life with the playfulness and curiosity of a 5yr old. Life is short and it can be, oh so very, sweet But it does take a little effort and a little bit of just saying fuck it I’m going to do this. The day my wife left, it was the worst day of my life, now it was the best day of my life. You just never know how things are going to work out. But you can definitely help it head down a good road.
There is much more to tell!
I plan to go in to
it in more detail. There are books of inspiration, quotes, products, music, recipes, exercises and much more to come, to improve your life as it continues on down the road. If you want to make a positive improvement in your life, then now is the time and I hope through my experiences both good and bad , I can help just a little bit. Peace, Love and living in the light
