6 reason to drink Ningxia Red

a conference call with Marc Schreuder, the lead researcher of Young Living Essential Oils. He spoke about the 6 health benefits of NingXia Red (NR). This article is a summary of his lecture.
Here are Marc's 6 reasons to drink NingXia Red (pronounced ning-ja):
1. Longevity
The Ningxia wolfberry is consumed in a region of China where people are known for their longevity. In Ningxia China, there is 5 times the number of people living over 100 than any other part of China. The NingXia wolfberry has a longevity history unlike any other berries on the market.
2. Contains Essential Oils
NR is the only liquid supplement containing therapeutic grade essential oils. The essential oils in NR are orange and lemon. Both of these essential oils have been studied for their ability to combat cellular mutation, which is the first step to cancer.
Orange and Lemon essential oils have THE most anti-mutating properties of all the essential oils. Since NR contains essential oils, it is also an essential oil supplement.
3. Highest Antioxidant in the World
NingXia Red's antioxidant capacity has been tested and validated at Brunswick lab in MA. Brunswick lab developed the ORAC testing. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbency Capacity. NR scored higher than any other supplement or food!
To put this in perspective for you, here's an example of how NR compares to other foods:
1 oz. of NingXia Red has the same amount of antioxidants as-
100 oranges
11 pounds of spinach
55 pounds of almonds
55 tomatoes
23 large purple onions
2 pounds of blueberries
4. Anti-inflammatory and Energy-Giving Properties
Inflammation in the body is connected to many chronic diseases today, such as heart disease and cancer. NR has the ability to modulate the immune system because of a molecule called beta cryptoxanthin, a cousin to beta carotene (vitamin A.) Beta cryptoxanthin has one of the highest anti-inflammatory properties of any known compound.
The University of Manchester did studies on beta cryptoxanthin and found that the levels are very high in oranges. One single glass of fresh squeezed orange juice it is sufficient to reducing poly-arthritis. However, the beta cryptoxanthin levels in NingXia wolfberry are over 20 times the levels of orange juice. And the NingXia wolfberry is the highest known substance containing beta cryptoxanthin. People are noticing a decrease in arthritis symptoms within weeks of starting on NingXia Red.
5. Maintains Low Blood Sugar Levels
NR will not spike blood sugar levels. It has a Glycemic index of 11 compared to pure glucose which is 100, white bread is 70 and pinto beans are 42. NingXia wolfberries are one of the lowest of any known food on the Glycemic index rating.
Maintaining high blood sugar levels over the years can damage your body worse than smoking a pack of cigarettes a day!
6. Supports Eye Health
The University of Chicago conducted tests and found that a compound called zeaxanthin is the predominant carotenoid found in the eyes. It's more important than lutien or any other compound found. The highest known foods containing zeaxanthin are raw egg yolks and red peppers. However, after testing NR, the results showed 20 times more than the amount in raw egg yolks and 15 times more than the amount in red peppers.
Once again, the 6 reasons you should be drinking NingXia Red...
1. Longevity
2. Contains Essential Oils that Combat Cell Mutation
3. Highest Antioxidant on the ORAC Chart
4. Anti-inflammatory
5. Low Glycemic Index
6. Supports Healthy Eyesight
Also, I'd like to share with you some information on how Young Living's Ningxia wolfberry is grown, harvested and packaged.
The wolfberry begins its life on an organic farm in Ningxia, China. The wolfberries are freshly picked, quadruple washed, sanitized and then pureed. The processing plant is totally aseptic and clean and the juice processing is done in stainless steel. We use all modern, hygienic equipment. The processing plant is cleaned with steam, not chemicals.
The wolfberries are grown in the surrounding Yellow River Delta, where all the Himalayan melt water flows down. This melt water nourishes the soil making it rich in minerals. This process creates a berry that has unmatched nutritional impact.

Recipe for Wellness Tea

Over the past couple of years I have come up with a tea that seems to make people just on the verge of sickness feel better. Even people having a bad day.
Many of these people I don't see very often. For their good health and yours I provide the recipe here.
For a cup;       1 Tablespoon Pu-ehr tea leaves
                                          *   Pu-ehr tea comes from a province in china that is know for the longevity of its people.
There are studies that show it reduces cholesterol , reduces high blood pressure and increases metabolism.
1 regular tea bag. I like luizianne, but you use any black tea
2 or 3 drops of * "Young Living" Lemon Essential oil
2 or 3 drops of * "Young Living" Tangerine Essential oil
Heat water to almost boiling add the teas, cover and let steep for 3-5 minutes. add honey to taste usually about a teaspoon or so to a cup. Add the oils last .
you can re-steep the teas three times, adding honey and oils each time. The second cup will be the best.
                        To make a gallon;
Use 8 family size tea bags of black tea such as Luizianne
1 cup of tightly packed Pu-erh tea leaves
20 drops of "Young Living" Lemon oil
20 drops of "Young Living" Tangerine oil
Bring 1 quart of water to just before boil add tea bags. I wrap the Pu-ehr tea leaves in cheese cloth. let steep covered for 30 minutes. Take out the back tea bags and let the Pu-ehr tea steep an additional hour. Be sure to squeeze out all tea bags with out bursting them.
Add 3 quarts of cold water
                      Add Essential oils
You can add honey or other sweeteners to this but I think it makes a refreshing iced tea with out the sweeteners. I think it taste very much like the "Tejava" brand tea you can find in the stores
You can heat it but don't bring it to a boil or you will destroy the oils effectiveness.
          * Notes;
Buy Pu-ehr tea at good quality tea shops or on line. There are many types, I use the fermented black pu-her.
You could replace the tangerine oil with "Young Living" Citrus Fresh or Orange oil
Buy "Young Living" products from a registered distributor of which I am one.

Thieves oil a natural anti virus

A Healthy Immune System: The "Anti-Virus"

With the stresses in our environment, germs, and poor dietary choices, our immune systems can easily become weakened. Then we catch whatever bug comes along. We are more likely to catch colds and other viruses when our immunity is down.
In addition to being highly contagious, one of the problems with viruses is they mutate so quickly. Scientists may formulate a vaccine to treat one strain of a virus and in the meantime it has morphed into something else.
Essential oils, however, are very complex in nature. The variety of constituents in an oil make them ideal for combating “super-bugs”. Think about this: One essential oil can have anywhere from 200 to 800 chemical constituents. If a virus or bacteria mutates or becomes resistant to one component, an essential oil employs its other constituents to stop the bug’s progression. It’s like having a gang of superheroes at your disposal. If one chemical constituent doesn’t protect you, you can be pretty sure there will be others who will save the day!

Essential oils have a history of effectively combating contagious bugs. During a plague in the 15th century, a small band of thieves robbed the dead and dying. Although the plague was highly contagious, not one of this band was infected, despite being exposed to it daily. Eventually, the thieves were caught. In exchange for a more lenient punishment, they disclosed the formula of herbs, spices and oils they used to protect themselves.

Young Living has an essential oil blend that is based on that historical legend. Thieves is a synergistic blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This proprietary blend of pure essential oils was tested at Weber State University and found to have a 99.3 percent effective rate against airborne microorganisms when diffused for only 20 minutes.
The oils in Thieves are antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral.

A few easy ways to benefit from Thieves essential oils is to apply a few drops to your feet, run a cold air diffuser for 15 minutes several times a day, or put several drops in a capsule and take it internally.  Another option is to add it to hot water and drink it as a tea or add a few drops to a spoonful of coconut oil.

Thieves is one of the oils that I will always have on hand. It is a “super hero” that just may save the day. It smells good, too!

Summer of 2012 Ute Peak Hike

Back in July , I was going to call this "When in doubt go higher." A line off of a local free paper called the Mountain Gazette dedicated to the out door mountain life.
Things change. What can I say; "I'm a Libra and prone to procrastination."
That could fill pages on another post! ha,ha!
Anyway, I had been inspired back in late winter to hike a 14'er. by the movie "Blind Site".  So I planned to hike Grays peak the first week in August.
I thought early on I needed to be prepared, that it wouldn't be that easy. I planned to do moderate to difficult hikes to prepare. I did the hikes over a six week period. I didn't notate the exact dates.
The first hike was Ute peak. Rated most difficult.
It wasn't planned, well maybe in the back of my mind it was. I had been wanting to take this hike for some time, but knew it was difficult.  Pre-season I was walking 5 miles a day, this wasn't much further.  It is close to the ranch and in a beautiful area. I just got up early one Thursday morning and decided that I was going to hike it.
I got there about 9 am, a beautiful morning. The trail starts out by going through a tunnel under a giant conveyor from a local mine but then goes into a beautiful forest. Dense with trees, no beetle kill. It goes on like this for a while and I'm thinking this isn't too bad. Its slightly up hill kind of moderate. After a while your starting to go up some pretty good inclines but then they would sort of level out. Never really getting completely level, always going up. My will and motivation started giving my mind and body pep talks." Telling them that this wasn't so bad! We can do this! If we can't do this then how are we going to hike a 14'er. My mind and body slogged on complaining from time to time, but wanted motivation and will to be right.  Some of the views through the trees were beautiful! The trail just kept getting steeper!!! Motivation and Will kept the troops going uphill.
This hike was supposed to take 5 hrs, round trip. It was around 1. I was near the tree line, it was still kind of a long up hill through open tundra to the top. Mind and body lured motivation and will to a grassy spot in the shade for some lunch and then sucker punched them into a nap. I WAS TIRED! I took about a 30 min nap. I drank some water ate a power bar. Will and motivation tried to rally the troops but clouds were rolling in and mind and body were way tired. There was no way I was going to make that last part of the climb today. I headed down the trail under threatening skies and thunder. As always, I got back to the car in record time. Although I'm going to tell you going that steep down is almost as hard   as going up, maybe harder on the knees.
I have never been so physically and mental tired after a hike and I was out of it for the next two days.

Kicking it Up a Notch

At the beginning of last summer I lost ten pounds. Ever since then I have been struggling to lose the next seven pounds. I lose two or three and then I gain them back. It doesn't help that during the winter I do a lot of sitting around reading. I guess its a good thing I haven't actually gained weight. I've made some small changes to my diet. Eating more vegetables and fruit, trying to stay away from fatty meats. Recently I cut back on my beer. I tell myself I'm only drinking two , but truth be told most nights I have been drinking three or four. Just not paying attention. Now I'm paying attention and while I'm not going to give up my beer, I have limited myself to two and I don't drink every night. It just hasn't been enough to kick start my body's metabolism to lose that next set of pounds I want to lose. Recently I was in Michigan and walked three or four miles a day. When I got back to Colorado, I still hadn't lost a pound more. I almost bought some "Ben and Jerry's". I started walking here, now I'm up to five miles a day. I thought about what I could do to jump start my metabolism. Today for the first time, I walked the five miles with a fifteen pound back pack. The thinking is that your body doesn't know the extra pounds are dead weight and after walking three miles your body is burning energy to a level to support a human body of that weight. It burns at that level for sometime even after you have taken off the weight.
The walk got a little tough just beyond mile three. At mile four, you can take a right and walk back to the ranch or you can take a left and go up the hill to my turn around at mile five.  Just before the turn I was thinking I was tired  that instead of going up the hill that for today I would just head back to the ranch. After all it seemed like storm clouds were gathering. Then just as I got to the turn I thought about my goal for the summer. To hike a fourteen footer. I thought , would some one who hikes a fourteen footer turn around just because of a little black cloud or for being just a bit tired. When I got to the fork in the road, I took the left and up the hill I went. Funny thing, the further up the hill I got, the better I felt. By the time I got to the crest of the hill and the sign that marks the mile, I felt so good I kept on walking another hundred yards or so. I thought this is crazy, I feel like I could walk forever, when just a few minutes ago I was ready to turn around. Then I looked around, this is the highest point around, and although the wind was blowing pretty hard, it was a beautiful day. The sky had turned blue and was full of big boisterous cumulus clouds.you could see forever. I was deeply rewarded for my efforts.
So if your feeling stuck in a rut and got the blaaaasssss. Here is what I suggest. First you got to get the right mental attitude. Learn something new, read about something new, get a new hobby. Your brain needs exercise, it needs to be brought out of the depths and walked around. When you exercise your brain with new activity it focuses on what really might interest you. Set your exercised brain to looking for something that inspires you, something that you used to want or dream about doing and never did. It could be anything. Set a goal.  Then set simple goals that will lead you to that larger goal.It will be hard at times, it wont happen over night, there will be set backs, but if you keep your goal in mind you will reach it. Sometimes you just got to turn it up a notch and be tenacious
I don't know all I can say is that it seems to work for me.

Science behind the WOOOO- WOOOOO

For a number of years I've been studying Taoist Chinese medicine and healing techniques.  I'm very much a believer in how prayer, visualization exercises, attitude and how you approach something will determine its out come. Prayer and a positive attitude has helped me a number of times. Over this time I've read a few articles that actually support some of my Ancient Chinese texts. Scientific study supporting thought that's thousands of years old. Now I read a new book, suggested to me by a friend, that is called "The Genie In Your Genes" by Dawson Church that supports through scientific study that attitude and the way you process stress and the way you visualize the outcome of things has a direct effect on the way your genes work and process the outcome of your well being. I've always felt that thoughts become things, if you think negative thoughts negative things will happen. Through scientific study this book supports the effect of prayer, postive thinking and the benefits of massage and other methods not accepted by our normal medical academia. Check this book out it might give you the insight or knowledge you need to improve your life beyond your normal beliefs
